Band Member Requirements
Please read the guidelines below in order to understand the responsibilities and expectations of members.
Dues
$20.00 or $40.00 per year
Uniforms
- Marching: Black slacks (or jeans), white tennis shoes, white socks, red marching shirt/sweatshirt, red alumni hat
- Concert: Black slacks (or jeans), black shoes, black socks, red concert polo shirt, hat optional
Equipment
Your instrument, heavy-duty music stand, folding chair available as needed for outdoor concerts. It is highly suggested you purchase a stand light for dark indoor concerts. Music is copied and passed out during rehearsals. You are responsible to keep your copy of music in an orderly fashion for marching, seasonal concerts, and Christmas concerts. It is helpful to keep multiple binders for the different classifications of music.
Rehearsal Etiquette
- We meet each Saturday morning at the American Legion Hall at
1688 W. Bakerview Rd. Please arrive by 9:45 a.m. so you have time to set up and begin rehearsal promptly at 10 a.m.
- Prior to rehearsal, you will need to help move tables and chairs to arrange seating. After rehearsal, please return your own chair and, yes, even your neighbor’s chair. We need to leave the room in the same condition we receive it.
- Turn off your cell phone.
- Be courteous to those around you. When the band director is giving instruction, please don’t take this time to visit with the person next to you or play your instrument. Talking during rehearsal is disruptive to the entire class, and shows a lack of respect for the director and those who are attentive.
- Please be a good steward of your own space. Example, if you play an instrument that drips condensation, please bring your own spit rag to wipe your spit off the floor during each rehearsal. The legion does not charge us to use their facility so please be considerate.
Saturday Lunch
The Legion ladies prepare lunch for us each Saturday after rehearsal, the cost is $5.00.
